Overview
Servelec engaged us for UX consultancy on a new release of Mosaic, a Digital Case Management System for Social Care that facilitates the management of adult, children, and finance cases on a single platform.
At the outset of the project, we reviewed existing user research material prepared by a UX consultancy. This research was insightful and provided a solid foundation for enhancing the service. However, it lacked visual design elements, which meant we were tasked with creating a fresh look and feel for the platform.
A design system built from scratch
Once the research and investigation of the existing system were complete, we directed our focus toward the visual look and feel of the entire platform.
We developed a design system that included a comprehensive collection of reusable elements, such as colour palettes, iconography, badges, accordions, buttons, counters, form elements, and more.
Each element was meticulously designed to ensure that accessibility and standards were integrated from the outset. These components served as the building blocks for page design and were prepared for handover to the development team.
Information for end-users
A significant aspect of the system involved presenting information through panels. These panels were designed to display valuable details about individuals and other relevant information pertaining to a case. The number of panels could vary, depending on the scale and complexity of the case.
Defining the overall look
Once the panel design work was completed, we began focusing on the overall interface appearance for Mosaic. We referenced the design work that Servelec had done with its online branding, recognising the importance of maintaining brand awareness and incorporating elements of the Servelec identity into the Mosaic design.
This phase of design encompassed various elements, including the header, navigation, footer, and other page contents. The final result was a clean, minimalist interface that retained a distinct Servelec touch.
The results
We delivered an attractive new interface that enhanced the User Experience wherever possible, all within the specified time frame. This work successfully met the needs of the client and their end users.
I’ve worked with Trevor on several projects, and I have to say that, without a doubt, he has consistently produced some of the most stunning UI and UX work I have ever seen. His work has influenced many people, and his legacy still lives on in several of those projects and will be carried on into other upcoming projects
